Julie Black elected Deputy Chair of BACA – The Air Charter Association

Hunt & Palmer’s Executive Aviation Manager, Julie Black, has been elected as the new Deputy Chair of BACA – The Air Charter Association.

The Deputy Chair post, which Julie takes up with immediate effect, is a voluntary but crucial role within BACA, whose high profile activities and lobbying on behalf of its members for the last 70 years has contributed significantly to the creation and continued development of the professional air charter industry that we see today.

Julie was welcomed to her new role at BACA by Chairman, Nick Weston who said, “It is great to welcome Julie to the role of Deputy Chair and I look forward to working with her. The combination of us as a team means that we have two people at the helm who really understand the challenges facing brokers and operators.”

On accepting the appointment, Julie said, “It is an honour to be elected as Deputy Chair at such an exciting time for the Association, while we are gaining real momentum in key areas such as the fight against illegal charter and moving towards a formal training and certification framework for brokers.”

Hunt & Palmer’s Neil Harvey, director of Executive Aviation, commented, “The Hunt & Palmer Board wholeheartedly support The Air Charter Association and the excellent work it does to champion the interests of the many businesses that make up the air charter industry. We are delighted that Julie has been elected as the Deputy Chair, recognition of the considerable work she has undertaken as a Council member for the Association since 2017 and to the dedication, enthusiasm and vision that she clearly has for the future of our industry.”

Julie is a consummate aviation professional who joined the Hunt & Palmer organisation in 2017 as Executive Aviation Manager for this established and well respected international air charter brokerage. This move was the latest for Julie in an aviation career which started at London City Airport more than 20 years ago and has since seen her undertake a number of different roles as she broadened her experience of the aviation business. A forthright speaker and proponent for greater equality and diversity in what has traditionally been a male dominated industry, 2018 saw Julie as the proud recipient of a prestigious “Women in Aviation” award from Sapphire Pegasus Business Aviation.
