DAY/DRY LEASING CONTRACTS

DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO?

In a new trend, a number of charter organisers are now contracting aircraft with clients on a Day Lease or Dry Lease basis. While such flights may be less expensive than a sole use charter with a licensed aircraft operator, in certain circumstances there could be inherent risks for a client and their passengers.

This practice is a complex legal minefield, with which the majority of charter clients are not yet familiar, nor are they cognisant of the potential liabilities imposed upon them by these contracts.

The Air Charter Association, along with other professional bodies, are seeking to raise awareness of this practice.  Before you consider entering into a Day Lease of Dry Lease contract, please take a moment to read the ACA’s paper Aircraft Dry Leasing/Day Leasing Arrangements.

As always, Hunt & Palmer’s team of industry experts is available to provide you with impartial, professional advice on this and all matters concerning aircraft charter.
